Life on the road – with colors, dogs, and a dash of beautiful chaos.

Hi, I’m Urkki – an introverted craft nerd, living in an old Fiat motorhome with five rescue dogs. We ditched the ordinary life and hit the road with “Martta” to chase freedom, color, and cozy wild camping spots. No fixed plans, just rolling with the vibe.

No schedule – and not much of a route either

The journey starts in Finland and will eventually end… well, somewhere under the Moroccan sun – unless we accidentally spend two weeks in Austria admiring goats.
There’s no fixed plan. And that’s exactly how I like it.

Behind the wheel sits the undisputed world champion of getting lost.
I’m proudly known for my ability to take the wrong turn even when the GPS is begging and the backseat navigators are shouting “turn right!” – and yet, I turn left.
(More adventures, less logic – that’s not how the saying goes, but here we are.)

The vague idea looks something like this: Finland – Estonia – Latvia – Lithuania – Poland – Czech Republic – Slovakia – Hungary – Croatia – Slovenia – Italy – France – Spain – Morocco.
We stop wherever it feels right – for coffee, dog pee breaks, or because I missed the exit again.

This trip isn’t about ticking off countries. It’s about collecting moments, busted flip-flops, and stories you can’t explain without flailing your arms and pointing at a map.

The One Behind the Wheel

Hi! I’m Urkki – a wool-sock-wearing wanderer who got tired of searching for “the perfect house” and decided to move into an old Fiat Ducato named Martta instead.
Now Martta is my home, workspace, and occasional acrobatic obstacle course.

Behind me are years of working as a craft entrepreneur, from natural dye pots to web design, and deep in my heart lives a lasting love for Morocco.
The journey started in Finland and will eventually lead to Morocco – unless I get permanently lost somewhere in a Hungarian field.

There’s no fixed plan, but there’s always coffee, wool socks, and dogs on board.
My Colorful Roads is where I share stories from the road, life in a moving home, creative projects, natural treasures, and the kind of small stops that turn into big moments.

And even though my sense of direction is completely broken and reading a map is more decorative than useful – I go where the feeling takes me.

If you love colors, freedom, pet hair on your clothes, and the kind of life that rarely follows a map –
Hop in. We don’t know where we’re going, but we’re going anyway.
